DNS settings

DNS stands for Domain Name System. It translates domain names into IP addresses. The DHCP server on the network usually assigns DNS servers for resolving domain names.

The DNS settings in DINGO-Manager can be used when setting up static IP addresses or if the user wants to overwrite the automatically generated DNS settings.

Use the New... button to add the DNS servers that should be used.

Use the Delete button to remove unwanted DNS servers.

The DNS settings will take immediate effect when the changes are saved.

Note: To use the automatically generated DNS settings again, simple remove all your DNS servers.

Where are DNS settings stored

The DNS settings in DINGO-Manager are stored in /etc/resolv.conf.head

When the DNS settings are save, the command resolvconf -u is called to activate the DNS settings.
